Ethan Mbappe suspended for three European matches
Following a harsh disciplinary decision in European football, young French midfielder Ethan Mbappe of the French club Lille has been officially suspended for the next three matches in the UEFA Champions League. This heavy sanction comes after his expulsion during the opening fixture of the continental competition against the Spanish side Real Betis on September 8.

During the match, which ended in a 3-2 defeat for the French team, the incident occurred early in the second half. At the 56th minute, the former Paris Saint-Germain player was involved in an altercation with Brazilian defender Natan. Replays confirmed a blow with the elbow, leading the referee to show a direct red card after a VAR review.
Before this unfortunate sending-off, the player had delivered a promising start by providing an assist for Ayase Ueda to open the scoring. However, playing with ten men for the remainder of the game severely hampered the chances of the Northern club, who failed to overturn the scoreline.

The suspension means the French prospect will be forced to watch crucial fixtures from the sidelines. The impacted games include:
- An away clash against Arsenal on October 13.
- A home fixture against Turkish side Galatasaray on October 21.
- A trip to face Bodo/Glimt on November 3.
His potential return to European action is scheduled for November 25 when the French team faces German powerhouse Bayern Munich.
