The Italy national team, known as the Squadra Azzurra because of its blue shirt, is one of the great powers of world football.
Four World Cups
Italy has won the World Cup in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006. Only Brazil has won more.
Two European titles
The Azzurri won the European Championship in 1968 and Euro 2020, played in 2021 and won at Wembley after a penalty shoot-out against England.
A defensive tradition
Italy is famous for its great defenders and goalkeepers, from Dino Zoff to Paolo Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluigi Buffon.
