How qualifying works
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) organises several qualifying rounds. The best teams earn their place in the final tournament, which brings together 24 nations.
The record winners
Japan holds the record with four titles. Qatar won the last two editions, in 2019 and 2023, and Saudi Arabia has won it three times.
A big stage for Arab teams
Many Arab nations take part, which makes the qualifiers especially followed in the region.
