Laciné Megnan contract extension: PSG target stays at Montpellier

Despite strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain, young forward Laciné Megnan has signed a new deal with Montpellier.

The young French football talent Laciné Megnan has officially chosen to commit his future to the French club Montpellier, putting an end to intense speculation regarding a potential transfer. Despite a strong push and multiple offers from Paris Saint-Germain during the recent summer transfer window, the 16-year-old forward decided to remain loyal to his formative club. Currently competing in Ligue 2, Montpellier successfully resisted the capital club's advances, allowing the promising prospect to continue his development in familiar surroundings.

A strong start under Zoumana Camara

Born in 2010, the French youth international has quickly become an essential figure in the tactical setup of coach Zoumana Camara. Demonstrating remarkable maturity for his age, the teenager has already made seven appearances out of nine possible league matches this season, finding the back of the net twice. Having signed his first professional contract back in February, his consistent performances on the pitch justified the faith shown by the technical staff, establishing him as one of the standout youngsters in the division.

Expressed commitment and club ambitions

Following his official signature tying him to the club until 2029, the young striker expressed immense satisfaction in a club statement. Emphasizing the trust placed in him by the management since his early days at the club—having joined at the age of six—he noted that extending his stay was a natural decision rather than a difficult choice. This renewed commitment aligns perfectly with the current sporting ambitions of the team, which is fiercely battling at the top of the standings.

Next fixture and promotion race

Currently sitting in second place in the Ligue 2 table just behind Saint-Étienne, Montpellier will look to maintain its strong momentum as the season progresses. Laciné Megnan and his teammates will aim to sustain their impressive form in the upcoming fixtures to achieve their ultimate goal of securing promotion back to the elite tier of French football.
